Etisalat Misr and Huawei Launch Egypt’s First Complete Virtual Cloud IGW
The launched solution is hosting four Gi-LAN services (vEPC, vTCP Optimization, vDPI & vFirewall) from multi-vendors relying on the same NFVI (Network Function Virtualized Infrastructure).
The NFVI technology is one of the key strategic directions adopted by Etisalat Misr as a step towards 5G next-generation networks transformation.
The NFVI will transform network operation models and business economics enabling the creation of widely distributed, highly dense, and high bandwidth mobile networks that are capable to deliver the flexibility, scalability and programmability needed to meet next-generation networks requirements.
This solution will enable Etisalat Misr to achieve quicker time-to-market for launching new services due to unified automation and reduced procure-design-integrate-deploy cycle. in addition to maintaining its technology leadership position and full readiness for 5G technology.
“This is certainly a corner stone in the history of Etisalat leading the telecom technology market in Egypt, I am very pleased with the favorable results, and highly anticipate the solution’s expedited deployment on the entire network,” said Khalid Murshed, CTO of Etisalat Misr, praising the complete virtual cloud IGW solution.
“Huawei is honored to cooperate with Etisalat Misr to upgrade telecom infrastructure. The more agile, flexible and robust cloud-based Gi-LAN solution will help Etisalat Misr build a differentiated and efficient network, implement traffic experience monetization, and provide a better network basis for future 5G development,” stated Eric Liu, Vice President of Huawei North Africa Region.
